Sun can be a little difficult to come by during the Alaska winters.  The winter afternoon light broke out and this particular Drake Mallard stopped to bask in the soft and low warm glow.  Mallards will winter in Alaska and endure sub freezing temperatures as long as they can find some open water.  It can be a challenge.  Edition of 500.
